Every Tuesday evening from April to September, UKA qualified endurance coach John Danahay, hosts High Performance Runner training sessions on the trails at Silverdale Country Park, near Newcastle-under-Lyme in North Staffordshire.
We meet at 6.00pm in the car park at Silverdale Athletic Football Club, Scot Hay Road, Silverdale, ST5 6RQ.
The sessions are aimed at ambitious endurance runners wanting to make big improvements to their race results using a tried and tested approach but all sessions are run on time rather than distance, and controlled by the coach’s whistle, so all paces are catered for.
These sessions are already attended by some of the best male and female endurance runners in the area, and focus on improving 5k performance capability, with benefits for runners tackling any distance from middle distance track to the marathon. For example in 2018 local runner Will Neill used these sessions as part of his preparation for the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships. Typical sessions include 6 x 3 minutes (90 seconds recovery) and 8 x 2 minutes (60 seconds recovery).
The sessions start with a 2 mile trail warm-up, and finish with a 2 mile cool-down, concluding the full session before 8.00pm.
There is no charge for an individual session but a donation would be appreciated if you attend the sessions regularly and you feel that they are working for you.
If you are interested in attending please contact me or just turn up on the night.
